Roma have denied reports that Francesco Totti has signed a new contract but believe it could happen shortly.
Reports in Italy suggested the Roma captain had put pen to paper on a new five-year deal with the capital club at the weekend.
However, while the Giallorossi are keen for Totti to see out his career at the Stadio Olimpico, they insist nothing has been finalised yet.
"No, he hasn't signed," a spokeswoman said. "Those reports aren't true at all.
"But we do expect him to very shortly. There are no problems.
"There should be news in the next few hours."
Totti, who made his debut in March 1993, has spent his whole career at the capital club and has often said that he hopes to see out his playing days there too.
The 32-year-old revealed to television channel Tg1 on Saturday that he is on the verge of signing a deal to take him to 2014 as a player with the option of a further five years as a director.
The former Italy international is Roma's record goalscorer, having netted over 200 times for the Giallorossi.
