ETO'O: I WANT TO WIN EVERYTHING

Inter Milan new boy Samuel Eto'o has vowed to repeat his success with Barcelona at the San Siro as he was officially presented as the Nerazzurri's latest recruit.

The Cameroon international put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Inter on Monday night following the protracted 'swap' deal that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirmed as a Barca player just hours earlier.

And Eto'o hopes to continue his prolific scoring record to fire his new club to glory.

"I want to write history with Inter and I hope to do so," he said. "I won almost everything with Barca, I hope to do so also here."

Eto'o scored 125 goals in 144 games for Barca, firing them to a string of titles, including three Primera Divisions, two Champions Leagues and a Copa del Rey success, in his five seasons at the club.

Inter will also receive 45million euros as part of the deal but the 28-year-old, who only had a season left on his contract with Barca, has shrugged off suggestions this proves Ibrahimovic is the better of the two.

"It would be great to win the Ballon d'Or but first I'm thinking about the team's interest and not my personal ones," Eto'o continued.

"Ibra is a great player but I am Samuel Eto'o and my past and my victories talk for me. I don't like parallels being drawn.

"I wish Zlatan all the best."

Eto'o, who had his first training session as an Inter player today, hopes to settle into his new life as quickly as possible.

And he has vowed to repay the faith Inter coach Jose Mourinho and the Nerazzurri fans have shown in him

"When you arrive in a new place you find yourself facing so many new things," added Eto'o. "I thank the fans for their welcome and I will pay them back on the pitch, training seriously and winning as much as possible.

"It won't be easy but I will try.

"It has been years that I have been trying to play under Mourinho and I have never managed it. Now I am happy to be here, for me it is a great honour.

"Here in Serie A there are important players because great players are in teams where they know they will be able to win things.

"I am here because it is a very competitive league.

"It's true Ibra and Kaka have left but there are many great champions in Italy and I am convinced I have made the best choice."

Inter, who have lifted the Serie A title the past four seasons, are desperate to win the Champions League.

Having won Europe's most prestigious competition three times with Real Madrid and Barca, Eto'o would love to do the same with his new club.

"With Barca we won the Champions League after many years of disappointment (in 2006) and the fans went delirious," he said. "I think that winning a Champions League with Inter would have the same effect.

"It will be an enthralling challenge to succeed in winning this trophy."

Inter now have a fearsome strike pair in place as fellow new boy Diego Milito, who scored a brace in a pre-season friendly against bitter rivals AC Milan, looks like being a force to be reckoned with.

The duo could team up against Lazio in the Supercoppa on August 8.

"I would love to be on the pitch agains Lazio," said Eto'o.

"But it's up to Mourinho to decide the moment and the time in which I'll be thrown on.

"I will always give my best. Milito is an important player but I don't know if we will be Inter's strike pair.

"You play in a team of 11 and in this team we are all important."

ETO'O AND HLEB NEAR INTER MOVES

Samuel Eto'o is putting the final touches on his move to Inter Milan and Alexander Hleb's agent is confident his client will be joining the Cameroon forward at the San Siro.

Barcelona agreed a fee with Inter last week of 45million euros (£40million) plus Eto'o for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a deal which will also see Hleb join the Serie A side on loan.

The Belarus midfielder threatened to scupper the deal when he revealed he wanted to remain at the Nou Camp but Maurizio Gaudino is optimistic he will join Eto'o at Inter.

"Today I'm not going to Barcelona," he told Calciomercato.it. "I have just come back to Germany and at around 4pm or 4.30pm I'll talk to the Catalan club's management to find an agreement with them.

"With Inter everything's okay. There's one or two details to sort out with Barca, I can't say any more.

"There's optimism, even if in football there are no certainties.

"This evening there could be important news."

Eto'o and Ibrahimovic are currently undergoing medicals at their prospective clubs and Barca have announced that the Sweden striker could be presented at 6.30pm local time.

Eto'o is delighted to have all but signed for Inter and, having won the Champions League three times at Real Madrid and Barca, has vowed to repeat his European success with his new club.

"I'm very happy to finally have arrived in Milan," he said when he landed this morning. "For me this is a new adventure and I really want to make the very most of everything.

"I'm starting a new life and I hope it brings happiness and success.

"My first aim will be to win the Champions League."

Eto'o also praised his new team-mates who beat bitter rivals AC Milan 2-0 in a pre-season friendly last night.

"I learnt that they won the derby in America," added the Cameroon international. "I am very happy for this important success."

Meanwhile, Inter president Massimo Moratti has revealed the reasons behind the decision to sell Ibrahimovic to the treble winners and is delighted with the money the Nerazzurri are set to make from the deal.

Many fans are dismayed that the club are selling Ibrahimovic, last year's leading goalscorer in Serie A, but Moratti insists they are simply giving in to the player's wishes

"More than once in the last few months he has shown his desire to change clubs," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "It wasn't forced, he told us that he saw his career developing elsewhere.

"We're talking about someone rather indifferent on a sentimental level, a professional."

Ibrahimovic's agent claimed recently the player had been thinking of a move to Barca for over a year, but Moratti refused to be drawn.

"If that is true I must say he did an incredible job at not letting it out," continued the Inter chief.

"I don't think anyone could have guessed his desire was away from Inter given he's leaving as the league top scorer.

"We are all thankful for what Ibra has done for us over the years."

Moratti feels that the deal is of mutual benefit to both Inter and Barca, and has reassured fans that the only reason Eto'o cost so little was because he has a single year left on his contract with the Catalans.

"It seems to me an intelligent move by Barcelona to begin new paths," he added. "And for Inter we're talking about a positive deal also in the financial sense.

"You have to bear in mind that Eto'o's value as a player is not that of his low transfer value.

"It was great business for both. I can't recall a deal of this level between European clubs."

ZLATAN ARRIVES IN BARCELONA

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has arrived in Barcelona ahead of his medical scheduled for Monday.

The Inter Milan striker is on the verge of completing a switch to the Nou Camp in a deal which will see Samuel Eto'o move the other way and the Serie A side receive 45million euros.

"I want to form part of Barca's history" Ibrahimovic told Barca TV.

The Sweden striker spent around 15 minutes at the Nou Camp where he was photographed in front of the Barcelona badge and will dine with club president Joan Laporta and other officials on Sunday night.

Ibrahimovic is set for a medical on Monday and, should all go to plan, will be presented as the treble winners' latest recruit at around 1830 local time.

And he has revealed that at that moment he will feel on top of the world.

"It's hard to describe my feelings," continued Ibrahimovic. "Everything seems to be all set, it just needs my signature.

"I'm really pleased and enjoying everything that's happening.

"I really am very, very happy and when this is all settled I'll be the happiest man in the world."

Ibrahimovic has spent the past three seasons at the San Siro but he insists that as soon as Barca came calling there was only one team for him.

"Every player wants to come to Barca, but not everybody can," he said.

"When I saw Barca were interested in me I told my manager to sort it out and he's done a great job.

"Who wouldn't want to come to Barca? I think any player would want to represent what is the best club in Europe and maybe the world.

"The best players have to be at Barca and I hope to be one of them."

Ibrahimovic finished last season as top goalscorer in Serie A, netting 25 times as Inter stormed to their fourth successive title.

The 27-year-old is hoping to continue that scoring streak in the Primera Division.

"I'm coming here with the qualities everyone knows I have," he added. "I play a skilful game, as Barca do and I want to do as well as I have done at Inter.

"The people who know me as a player know what I can bring. I want to learn how Barca play.

"There are champions in every position and I want to learn what I can from all of them.

"I'm coming here ready for anything and anything that I can bring will be great.

"I'll give my best to give everyone something to enjoy."

IBRAHIMOVIC NEARS BARCA MOVE

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be presented as a Barcelona player on Monday if no late complications arise over his switch from Inter Milan, the Primera Division club confirmed on Saturday night.

Ibrahimovic is due to arrive in Barcelona on Sunday to put the finishing touches on his move, which includes the Sweden striker undergoing a medical with the European champions on Monday morning.

If all goes well and the deal is finalised then the 27-year-old could be officially unveiled by Barca in the Sala Paris at the Nou Camp on Monday evening.

Barca have agreed to pay Inter a reported 45million euros plus Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o in exchange for Ibrahimovic, with Alexander Hleb also set to join the Italian side on loan.

Meanwhile, Barca midfielder Yaya Toure believes the former Ajax and Juventus hitman will be a more than useful addition to the treble winners' squad, saying: "He is a very tall and skilful striker and his characteristics can help us a lot."
